i bought generic magic bands for our up coming trip, but now the kids want the themed magic bands, does the theme park tickets transfer over to the new magic bands

Hey there, John, and welcome to planDisney! Thanks for stopping by the panel with your question. I want to start by acknowledging you as the parent of the year! Not only are you taking your kids on a Walt Disney World Vacation, but you’ve already told them about the vacation too! That is quite brave my friend! My kids do not find out until we hit the “Welcome to Florida” sign because the daily vacation departure questions were getting overwhelming.

John, MagicBands are a great way for Guests to give everyone a small glimpse into their personality while on vacation. I enjoy picking out a new band for each of my Disney vacations! I know I don’t need a new one each time. I just can’t seem to help myself! So it’s great to see that your kids are getting into the MagicBand spirit! As long as the MagicBands are linked to your kids in your My Disney Experience account, the Theme Park Tickets will automatically link to the new MagicBands. When the MagicBands are purchased through your My Disney Experience account, they are automatically linked to the right Guest as you select a band for each individual member of your party. But if you purchase the MagicBands through ShopDisney or a physical retail location, you will have to manually link the MagicBands to your account. You can use the online linking tool to link the new MagicBands to your account.

I hope this helps, John! If you have more questions while planning your Disney Vacation, stop back by and let me know

You’ve got a friend in me,
