Hey, Jae! Welcome to planDisney. Thanks for bringing us this great question. As a mom of two “too cool” teens myself, I can completely relate! Good news, it will be easy for them to explore on their own for a bit. Here’s how to do it:
First, let’s make sure you have all eight tickets linked to your account. Go to Tickets and Passes in the
Disneyland mobile app and you should see all the tickets there – if not, you can link them using the ticket ID numbers.
Multiple people in your party can have the tickets linked in their accounts. But, if the four teens plan to stay together, then only one of them needs to play the “lead Mouseketeer” role and complete this process.
They would create a
Disneyland account using a valid email address. Then, they would download the Disneyland mobile app, log in and go to Tickets and Passes to get ready to scan phone-to-phone. You should have your app open as well in Tickets and Passes. They will click Link Tickets & Passes on their phone to scan the tickets from your phone one at a time.
I forgot to mention, as soon as you enter the parks, you will be able to purchase
Disney Genie+ for all eight members of your party. Any Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane selections are made per ticket, so if you make any selections for the whole group and the teens are off on their own, they will see their Genie+ Lightning Lane passes for any tickets linked to their account.
I know this sounds a bit confusing, but it will make a lot more sense once you’re at the parks! I also want to mention that Guests under the age of 18 are able to use most features of the app – for example, they can make their own Genie+ Lightning Lane selections. They cannot link a credit card to their account, so a workaround we use is to give our kids a Disney Gift Card that they can use to pay for in-app purchases, such as
Mobile Ordering.
I hope this helps, Jae. Have an amazing trip!
