If I bought a day ticket for Disneyland yesterday can I still transfer the amount I paid to purchase the magic key?

    Hey there Melissa!
I’m so glad you brought your question about joining the Magic Key program here to planDisney! I personally hold an Imagine Key myself and it has brought me so much joy. I’m so glad that sales are still open online so that more guests can enjoy The Happiest Place On Earth as Magic Key passholders!

At the time of writing this, unused theme park tickets may upgrade to an available Magic Key pass before the clock strikes midnight the evening before the day that the ticket expires. If a Magic Key of equal or greater value is available, the price of the original theme park ticket may be applied to the price of the new Magic Key pass.

Magic Key passes must be handled at the on-property ticket booth. This is subject to availability, so the sooner you can visit the resort, the better! I can currently see that Magic Key sales are still open without a virtual queue online, so there’s hope that by the time you reach a booth, you may still be able to upgrade. Just let the Cast Members know that you plan to upgrade your Magic Key, and they will direct you to the booth designated to handle these.

Once you finalize your Magic Key purchases, you will still need to make reservations for any park visit that you are planning. So, Melissa, if you have already made a reservation with your original theme park ticket, it will not carry over.

Did you know that next week is also the launch of the Disney100 Celebration? I am looking forward to participating in so many new and exciting attractions, food, and offerings, and you’ll be just in time to be among the first to ride Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Make sure to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for the most up-to-date information on commemorative treats.

I hope this answers your questions and helps you to upgrade your theme park ticket to a Magic Key before the last petal falls and sales are frozen in time (until later in the year, that is)! If you have follow-up questions, you are welcome to message me directly now that you've got a friend in me!

    See ya real soon!
