We bought a camper to camp at Disney. I called to book a site for the lasts 2 weeks in Jan. and there isn't a site available. YIKES. When is the "down" time for campsites? We like going in the off season but maybe campers have a different

    Mendi:

Like you, our family has visited Fort Wilderness during the winter when we thought it was "down" season, but what we found were many "snowbirds" who were escaping the harsh winters up north and enjoying all that the campground has to offer. Although this was not everyone who was staying onsite, it did make a difference. What is "value" season around the rest of Disney property is a very busy season at Fort Wilderness. Holidays, in addition to fall and winter, are also popular because so many campers decorate their campsites.

We've found that the week after Halloween in the fall empties the campground for a few days. May brings more space along with August and September. Keep in mind that the weekends are always popular because local campers enjoy the resort and may not even venture to the theme parks, so camping during the week versus the weekend will usually help find available space.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
