Hiya, Michael!
Welcome Home and welcome to planDisney. How exciting that you are dreaming of your next Disney vacation. It's never too early to start planning for the wish that your heart makes. One of the things that makes
Disney Vacation Club Membership so magical is the flexibility of planning the vacation how you want and when you want.
Michael, if you are planning a vacation for December 2024, you can book your Home Resort beginning 11 months in advance of your desired check-in date and seven months in advance of your check-in for all other Disney Vacation Club Resorts. If you need to borrow ahead to your 2025 Vacation Points to make your magical trip possible, you will be able to do that once your 2024 Use Year begins, which sounds like it would be February 1, 2024.
If you have to
cancel or modify your reservation, and you do so 31 days or more before check-in, all Vacation Points will be returned to your account in the current Use Year. So, any 2024 Vacation Points you used for your booking would be kept in your 2024 Use Year. If you
borrowed any Vacation Points for that reservation from your 2025 Use Year, they would remain in the current Use Year, even if they were originally from the next Use Year.
Borrowing Vacation Points is a final transaction and can't be banked and borrowed even if you cancel your reservation. So that means that if you did have to postpone your vacation, you would have to use those borrowed 2025 Vacation Points by the end of your 2024 Use Year in order not to forfeit them.
If you need to cancel 30 days to one day before check-in, those Vacation Points will go into a Holding Account in the current Use Year. The Points in the Holding Account can still be used through the end of the current Use Year, but they cannot be banked or borrowed and must be used for reservations at least 60 days before the check-in date. Unfortunately, if the cancellation is made on the check-in date, those Points will be forfeited.
I hope this helps you with your planning, Michael! If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, stop back here to see us and we will be so happy to help you.
See ya real soon!
