We are bookong our flight for our May 2020 Disney World trip. One option arrives in Orlando at 8:05 pm the night before our reservation begins. If we add a night at a different resort are we required to add the Disney Dining Plan for that night?

It's great to see you here today at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Laura!

You sound a lot like me because I do this kind of thing all the time. I'll go ahead and book my vacation and then I'll find a great deal for a flight that maybe has me arriving a day earlier or staying one extra night. Is there anything better than the combination of saving some money and spending extra time at Walt Disney World Resort?

If you decide that you want to add an extra night to your vacation to take advantage of that earlier flight you can add a one-night Resort Hotel stay and not have to extend your Disney Dining Plan. Keep in mind that when you check-in for that first night you will not have access to your Dining Plan credits. Those kick into effect when you check-in for your vacation package the next day! I experienced this last year when I traveled around Thanksgiving and found a great deal on a flight that left on Black Friday instead of the next day when I was originally supposed to arrive. I was able to call Disney Resort Hotel Reservations and add a room-only reservation to my trip without having to also book the Dining Plan for that day. If you want to choose a new Resort Hotel that's fine, but it's also worth checking to see if there's any availability where you've already booked. That way you won't have to move your luggage!

I hope this answers your question, Laura, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation.
