Hi! I am booking a trip for my family of 5 for October 2024 for 9 days. It is asking for more then $200. Did the deposit amount change for booking a vacation?

Hi Lori, and welcome to planDisney! How exciting that you are ready to book your vacation to the Most Magical Place on Earth! October is a festive time to visit with the parks transformed into their fall best - pumpkins (like snacks) are best when they are Mickey shaped! I actually got to visit this past October and attended Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party - I highly recommend checking out this special event if your schedule allows! Seeing characters in their Halloween costumes, trick or treating all over Magic Kingdom Park, and riding Space Mountain in absolute darkness were some of the highlights of this event for me!

Lori, you can currently book a Walt Disney World Resort Vacation Package with an initial deposit of $200 for visits at least 31 days in advance. While this price is subject to change, it is the current vacation package deposit, meaning you have selected a room and ticket package through the official Walt Disney World Resort website. Once you have paid the deposit, your vacation package balance must be paid in full 30 days in advance. This may be done in installments or all at once both online or on the phone. Check out some of the magical extras included when you book a vacation package here!

If you are booking a room-only reservation, the deposit amount will be different. This amount will be based on the cost of the first night's hotel stay, plus applicable tax, with the balance due at check-in.

I would recommend logging into your My Disney Experience account and verifying that you have selected both a room and ticket package; if you are not booking tickets with your room, then your deposit will be a different amount.

Lori, I hope this has been helpful and allows you to get your vacation officially on the books for 2024! With so many new attractions and the return of dining plans and all-day park hopping access, the magic has never been more ready to welcome you! Come on back to planDisney anytime if we can help again; we can't wait to see you real soon!
