I will be booking a stay at the Grand Floridian for the middle of August 2024. How is the renovations going? Is the lobby being renovated? Is it going to be difficult to enjoy the lobby or the rooms or anything with the construction underway?

Hi there Jason, I'm pleased to welcome you here to planDisney!

I'm always thrilled whenever anyone chooses to stay at our home resort and as a Disney Vacation Club owner who calls The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa home, I can say it's definitely been a very intriguing to watch as the refurbishments progressed across the property during our stays and even Disney Wedding that took place right here over the past few years. Throughout this time until fairly recently, heavy machinery and construction walls have been a common sight each time I've visited with guests receiving notices about the ongoing work that might impact their stay - and I figure that you'll likely receive an email about this as well ahead of your trip this August!

On the bright side however, as I look around it truly appears as though the refurbishments are for the most part complete for the time being with the exception of M. Mouse Mercantile which Cast Members at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa look forward to seeing open soon again this month. Though they were unable to confirm whether any new work would resume in and around the lobby this summer, the Garden View Tea Room as well as the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique adjacent to Basin White do continue to remain unavailable - and it would definitely be very surprising if the lobby areas were to be suddenly blocked off once more to replace the carpeting by the time of your anticipated stay. As with anything at Disney Destinations, this can always be subject to change without prior notice and thankfully during our last stay we only experienced minor inconveniences with renovation work that didn't take away from the overall experience.

I highly recommend keeping an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for any official announcements, but I've also spotted some very dedicated Grand Floridian fans out there who regularly post images and updates online of refurbishment work. As we await any more information about anything else being worked on in and around the lobby, you're always welcome back here at planDisney for any other answers or advice you may be seeking ahead of your August adventures!

Here's hoping for some exciting days and restful evenings on your upcoming visit!
