"Welcome home," Megan!
Megan, I'm so glad you dropped by planDisney with this very important question. As a fellow
Disney Vacation Club Member, I'm happy to talk you through the "ins and outs" of borrowing points.
Megan, to your question, if you
borrow points from your next use year to secure a reservation and you need to modify for whatever reason, those points will be put back in your account, but NOT to their original use year. Once they are borrowed, they officially belong to the current use year of the reservation in question.
So, for example, if you borrow 19 points for a night in a Deluxe Studio at
The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa but you've
waitlisted a Deluxe Studio at
Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge for 13 points, that becomes available, you'll have 6 points returned to your account. Those points, however, will be in the current use year and will expire at the end of that use year. Megan, while this may throw a kink in your plans, it's also a great excuse to plan another trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth.
Since you're looking ahead to your next trip "home," make sure to read about the
enhanced health and safety measures you'll see all around the Walt Disney World Resort. And... as you are making your reservations, don't forget that as part of the phased reopening, Members who want to borrow Points to complete a reservation will
temporarily only be able to borrow up to 50 percent of their future Use Year Points per contract.
Megan, I hope this helps as you are deciding how best to use your Membership. Please come on back and see us here at planDisney with any other questions you might have.
Wishing you a vacation filled with unforgettable moments,
Lauren
