    I am booking a resort stay/vacation for April 2020. I may decide to become an annual pass holder before then. If I book as a non-pass holder now, can I update my reservation later on, especially if special offers become available for pass holders?

    Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question. It’s wonderful to see you again. 

    I have a Walt Disney World Annual Pass too and I love being able to, er, justify several Disney Parks vacations a year because of it! One of the biggest reasons why I can visit Walt Disney World Resort so often is because of the perks associated with that Annual Pass, which often include discounted stays at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. 

    Based on my experience, you can’t directly update a given Disney Resort Hotel reservation when a Special Offer becomes available. You’ll have to cancel your initial reservation and make a new one, availability permitting. There are also no guarantees that a Special Offer will be available during the time you plan to visit, even if you are an Annual Passholder. 

    Here’s what I would recommend for you: if your vacation dates are pretty much set in stone, then I would make your reservation right away to make sure that you have something booked during your desired dates. Then, if a Special Offer or other discount is released once you’ve purchased your Annual Pass, you can then cancel your old reservation and make a new one.
