    When booking a resort and putting down a deposit, if need to cancel, do we get the deposit back?

    Hiya, Brenda and welcome to planDisney the most magical place on the internet to get your Disney vacation questions answered. I love how flexible Walt Disney World Resort is with vacation planning. There are two general types of Disney Resort hotel reservations: Room-only hotel reservations and hotels included with a Disney Vacation Package. Both have deposits but they have different deposit refund policies. 

    •  Room-only reservation deposits are fully refundable without penalty up until five days before check-in. Cancellation with less than 5 days will forfeit the first night’s room rate.  
    •  Vacation Package deposits are fully refundable up to 30 days prior to check-in. From Day 2-29 days before check-in, the penalty is $200 (price subject to change). Cancelling the day before or the day of check-in the Guest will be penalized for the entire Vacation Package.
    • The Vacation Package terms and conditions will give you deeper detail.
    • Please be aware that policy can change so be sure to stay updated on the details of your specific package.

    planDisney Pro Tip: If an issue arises with your reservation and it is within the window where you would need to forfeit a deposit, call and discuss the issue with a Cast Member or the agent used to book your reservation. There may be other options available at the time. A little politeness goes a long way.
