When booking our reservation to the Bahamas/Mexico, do we need our passport on hand to put down our passport number? or is a birth certificate and government ID enough to get on and off cruises?

Hello there, Diane, and welcome back to planDisney!

I’m thrilled to hear that you’re thinking of booking a Disney Cruise Line vacation! Fantastic choice! There is something for everyone to enjoy onboard while you sail on a luxury ship and visit incredible destinations. The itineraries from California look amazing!

I’m glad you're thinking about your travel documents early. When you reserve your cruise, you will pay a deposit and provide basic information about your travel party. You will upload your citizenship documentation during online check-in, which begins 30 days before your sailing. For a closed-loop or round-trip cruise, U.S. Citizens can present the following travel documents: Original valid U.S. Passport OR Original state-issued birth certificate AND Government-issued photo ID. Children 15 years of age and younger are not required to show a Government-issued photo ID.

As your adventure at sea starts to take shape, you may enjoy listening to episodes of the planDisney podcast. There’s a treasure trove of information about Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland Resort, and Walt Disney World Resort. Please sail back to us if you have more questions before the big day arrives. My friends and I are delighted to help!
