Hiya, Sarah!
Thanks for bringing your question to us at planDisney! As a fellow Mousketeer who prioritizes maximizing magic and minimizing waits during my Walt Disney World Resort vacations, I'm delighted to be of assistance!
I was fortunate enough to be visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth the week after the new Lightning Lane system debuted, so I was able to reach out to a Guest Relations Cast Member in person with this exact inquiry! She helpfully shared that Guests who purchase
Lightning Lane Multi Pass are eligible to modify their selections at any time pending availability. This even includes the option to reserve attractions or experiences in a different theme park than the original Multi Pass purchase.
- Should you choose to modify the attractions to a different theme park before redeeming any of your Lightning Lane selections, then you would be responsible for paying any price difference between the cost of Lightning Lane Multi Pass at the two theme parks. If your initial purchase price was lower than the cost of your new selection, your card on file would be charged the difference. In the event that your initial purchase was priced higher than your modified selection, no refund would be given.
- If you have a theme park ticket with the Park Hopper option and decide to redeem your first Lightning Lane selection of the day in one theme park and then modify your existing selections to your second destination of the day, you would be free to do so at no upcharge. Even if Lightning Lane Multi Pass at your modified theme park is priced higher than it was for your theme park of purchase!
In case the scenarios above were a bit confusing, I'm happy to provide some 'real (Walt Disney) world' examples for you!
- Let's say you purchased Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Magic Kingdom Park before arrival but decided after your purchase to visit EPCOT that day instead. You are free to modify all three of your initial Multi Pass selections in Magic Kingdom Park to attractions or experiences in EPCOT. Since Multi Pass in Magic Kingdom Park is typically priced higher than it is in EPCOT, there would be no upcharge...but you would not be refunded the price difference.
- If you start your day in EPCOT but know you plan on hopping aboard the monorail to visit Magic Kingdom Park later, you could purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for EPCOT and make your initial three Lightning Lane selections in advance. Once you've redeemed your first EPCOT Lightning Lane, you would be free to modify the two existing EPCOT Lightning Lane selections for attractions at Magic Kingdom Park. This would incur no upcharge even if Multi Pass at Magic Kingdom Park is more expensive.
Please keep in mind that these are the Lightning Lane policies in place at this time but are always subject to change without notice. If you have any questions about redeeming or modifying your Lightning Lane passes during your vacation, I encourage you to locate a
Guest Relations Cast Member (look for the blue umbrellas). They are always happy to help!
Thinking Happy Thoughts,
Lizzie
