Hi Erin,
Welcome to planDisney! I am delighted to help you plan a vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort!
If you book a
vacation package with a resort hotel and theme park tickets, you will need to get the same type of tickets and number of ticket days for everyone in your party. Or, you could book your
resort hotel and
theme park tickets separately. If you go this route, you can buy different tickets for the 6-year old.
Once you have those reservations made and tickets purchased, be sure that they are linked in your My Disney Experience account. To link, log into My Disney Experience, click on My Plans, and then click on Add More Plans. Then, click on
Link Reservations and Purchases.
As you continue to plan, make sure everyone has the
My Disney Experience Mobile App downloaded. On our most recent visit, we enjoyed using several features of the mobile app including
Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering and
Mobile Dine Check-in. I also had to use the Unlock Door feature once when my MagicBand would not open the door.
Erin, I will offer one word of caution. Keep your eye on the
Special Offers and be sure to compare prices between a vacation package and purchasing the resort hotel and theme park tickets separately. I also hope you choose a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel. We adore those that are within walking distance to a theme park. I just took the girls on a girls' trip and we stayed at the
Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. We had such a
grand time!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
