I am booking my first Disney Cruise in Europe out of Rome. I was told the port is a good distance from the center of the city and that I should book a driver to transport my family of 5. Are there hotel recommendations and car company recs you can provide?

Welcome to planDisney, Daniel! Thank you for visiting as you plan for your first Disney Cruise Line adventure.

Civitavecchia, Italy, is considered the gateway to Rome. There will be lots of history to take in as you explore. The following hotels can be booked through Disney Cruise Line: Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome Hotel and Rome Cavalieri, A Waldorf Astoria Resort. You can then book ground transfers to the port from these hotels. If you need a ground transfer after your sailing ends back to the airport, Disney Cruise Line can assist with that as well. You must call directly.

While visiting, motor coach transfers are available to Rome, and it is about a 90-minute ride one way. Per the Disney Cruise Line website, "Taxis are not always prevalent and drivers will generally request a full day's fare for a trip to Rome." There is a train station about a mile from the ship that offers transportation to Rome. The hotels may have recommendations on a car service for you and your family.

I hope this helps you get started with your planning, Daniel. If you have any other questions, planDisney is here for you!

    Happy Planning!
