Hi, I am booking our familys first trip to WDW in mid May. Could you tell me what the weather is like that time of year?

    Hi Dessere,

You've picked a great time for your first trip to Walt Disney World. Mid-May tends to have smaller crowds than after Memorial Day and the weather is warm, but not too warm.

May is really the beginning of our summer weather here in Florida. Temperatures likely will be in the upper 80s during the day and the mid-60s at night. The humidity probably won't  be at summer levels at that point, though, so it should be pleasant shorts and T-shirt weather.

There's a good chance you will encounter some of our famous afternoon downpours at that time of the year. The good news is that they seldom last long. I recommend that you pack a light rain poncho for each person, the kind you can buy at any discount store or drug store, so that you're ready and aren't dashing to a gift shop when the rain appears suddenly.

Don't forget the sunscreen, and I like to bring a water bottle so that I can stay hydrated and avoid too many sodas.

I hope that helps. Please check back with me or others on the Moms Panel if you have more questions about planning your first visit. Enjoy your time with your family!
