Booking 1st cruise for 07, 2011 for 5 night Bahamian. VERY EXCITED! Have 2 kids 9 and 5 yrs. Don't know much about this, but is there a preferred location/deck to book our room? We would like a veranda. Feeling a little overwhelmed...Thnx for advice

    Hi Denise,

I totally "get" and really appreciate your excitement - it makes my job so much fun!

Although some people believe that room location can make-or-break your cruise vacation, personally I'm just happy to be onboard!  Unfortunately because this ship has not even been completed, there are no room reports or past cruisers that can give advice on specific staterooms on the Disney Dream.

So for a first time cruiser, I would suggest trying to book somewhere mid-ship, on a mid-deck (deck 6 or 7) because this area tends to offer the least amount of motion.  This area will offer you quick access up to the pools and down to the restaurants, shops and clubs. I've sailed with and without a verandah - and if it's within your budget, I say book the verandah.  I absolutely love having the opportunity to sit outside and watch the waves go by - even in my pj's!  It is especially exciting to have our own personal vantage point for pulling in and out of ports, it's fun to watch all of the excitement.

Now all that being said, we actually opted out of the verandah for our first cruise on the Dream in favor of extra space.  The cabins appear to be a bit smaller than on the other Disney ships, so we are going with connecting ocean view staterooms.

Hope this helps, good luck with your decision!
