Hello there, Tina! Welcome to
planDisney!
I'm so glad you're thinking ahead and looking for the best ways to be financially responsible when planning your Walt Disney World Vacation Package. So let me break it down for you!
If you go ahead and book a room-only reservation now,
you will only be able to add tickets by cancelling your original reservation and rebooking the entire Vacation Package from scratch. The way I would go about this is to book the Vacation Package and only then cancel the room-only reservation. This way, you won't lose your original Disney Resorts Collection hotel reservation until you're certain that you got exactly what you wanted. If you can't find a Vacation Package that suits your needs, simply keep the existing hotel reservation and purchase tickets separately!
The same exact process applies the other way around. If you booked a Vacation Package but you'd rather make a room-only reservation, you will need to cancel the original package and rebook. However, I'll say that it's very rare to find a better deal for room-only reservations and separate tickets than it is to purchase everything together as a Vacation Package!
Pro tip: go ahead and book a Vacation Package now by
calling the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations and Tickets hotline and speaking with a Cast Member. If you find
a better deal in the coming months, you'll be able to add that to your Vacation Package by calling again! It really is as simple as that.
I hope this helps, Tina! If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us so we can assist you further! Have a magical day.
Warm hugs,
Ana Paula
