I've booked a week at the boardwalk Inn for January 2026 and now may have to change plans. Can I cancel without a penalty? Can I rebook for another time?

Hey there, hi there, ho there, Ronald! You're as welcome as can be here at planDisney. I know it can feel stressful when unexpected changes come up. The good news is that you do have flexibility, and I'm happy to walk you through what your options look like!

If your travel plans are shifting, you can absolutely cancel or modify your reservation, and whether there's a penalty depends entirely on when you make the change. If you cancel your vacation package at least 30 days before your arrival date, you'll receive a full refund of whatever you've paid so far, minus any nonrefundable items or third-party fees that might be attached (for example, travel protection plans, special event tickets, or outside supplier charges). This is the easiest and most flexible window.

If you need to cancel between 2 and 29 days before your trip, you can still receive a refund, but Disney will withhold a cancellation fee from your package total. Again, any nonrefundable extras or outside fees are also deducted.

If your plans change at the very last minute, meaning one day before you arrive or on the day of check-in, the full cost of the package becomes nonrefundable. So in that case, it's always best to modify rather than cancel if you're still hoping to visit later.

As for rebooking, you can absolutely do that! You're welcome to move your trip to new dates, adjust your length of stay, or even switch resorts entirely if you prefer. Just keep in mind that any changes made within 30 days of your arrival trigger a $50 change fee per package, and your package will be repriced based on the new dates and availability. If your new dates fall into a different season or promotion, the cost may go up or down accordingly.

Ronald, you have several paths forward, and none of them prevent you from enjoying your BoardWalk Inn stay when the timing is right. Whether you decide to reschedule or take advantage of that generous cancellation window, Disney makes it possible to adjust your plans with as little stress as possible. I hope your trip, whenever it happens, is filled with beautiful BoardWalk mornings, peaceful Crescent Lake views, and all the magic you've been looking forward to. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us! We're always available and more than happy to help here at planDisney.

    Warm hugs,
