We have just booked our vacation for July 24, 2009. Are there any resturants that are more likely to still have available reservations?

    Rosemarie:

In my experience when I've wanted to book a restaurant and I'm close to my trip, a few are easier to get into than others.  I've been able to book Biergarten and Marakesh at Epcot even for same-day dining while I've been able to get reservations at Mama Melrose's and Rainforest Cafe close in to a trip, also.

What you may find interesting is a survey on the internet at www.touringplans.com under its blogs section that I read recently.  Its June 14 entry included a survey of restaurants and how far in advance you need to make a reservation to get a seat.  Of note: now that Liberty Tree Tavern at Magic Kingdom no longer has a Character Meal, it's easier to get into; One of my family's favorites, Sci Fi Dinner Theatre was easier to get into than another Hollywood Studios favorite, 50's Prime Time; and the more expensive restaurants, Bistro de Paris and Hollywood Brown Derby were easily assessible as were newer restaurants Tokyo Dining and Yak and Yeti.  It's worth checking out the survey even if all of Disney's restaurants aren't included.

If you can't get a reservation for your favorite restaurant this close in, persistence pays off.  I recommend calling Disney Dining at 407-939-3463 frequently to see if there's a cancellation.  On a recent trip, I landed reservations for Akershus and Chef Mickey's only 3 days out!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
