    Gretchen from FL Asked

We have booked two rooms at the Grand Floridian in August, one for me and my husband, and one for my daughter and her friend. Since we are technically two separate reservations, what is the easiest way to make group dining and activity reservations?

    Hello Gretchen!

Welcome to planDisney! You’ll be happy to know that My Disney Experience makes planning with family and friends a breeze! Even with multiple reservations, you can connect so that you can easily make plans together.

To begin, you’ll need a My Disney Experience Account. If desired, everyone can create their own account, or you can create an account and manage the others. I recommend that since your daughter has her own room, she might prefer to have a separate My Disney Experience Account. Her friend may also prefer her own. Make sure that whatever name is used on the account, you use the same form of the name on the reservation. For example, my legal name is Katherine but I go by Kate. I am careful to use Kate on everything.

Once everyone has created their accounts, I would add your resort reservations. You can do this under the “My Plans” tab. Next, you can use the Family & Friends feature to connect! Go to the “Family & Friends” tab on My Disney Experience and scroll to the bottom where you see “Add a Guest.” If you will be managing everyone on one account, you can create their profiles at this time. For anyone who has created their own account, you can choose to send them an invitation to connect via email, or you can enter their resort reservation to send them an invitation. They will receive an email asking if they accept your invitation, and once they accept you will all be connected on My Disney Experience! I will say from personal experience, that sometimes it can take a day or so for the invitations to go through. Sometimes one member of the party will get the invitation immediately, and others will not. If after 24 hours you are still not linked, I recommend resending the invitation to connect.

Get ready to make plans! While at this time FastPass+ has not returned to the Walt Disney World Resort, the most important reason to be connected this way is if you will be trying to snag a Boarding Group for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Being linked through My Disney Experience will allow one person to try for the Boarding Groups for your entire party!

I hope this helps you to link your reservations, Gretchen, and you are on your way to planning your magical visit. Please let us know what additional questions you have as your trip approaches, we are here to help!
