I’ve booked a trip for just me and my 7 year old daughter in June, includes the dining plan with table service. I’m curious about how much extra money I should be saving for the trip. I haven’t been to Disney in over 25 years and I know it’s not cheap!

    Hello Sarah!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I am also planning visit with my 7-year-old for next year. Just like you, I will stay at a Disney Resort hotel to enjoy several great benefits. Traveling alone with her, my favorites are transportation to and from Orlando International Airport with Disney’s Magical Express, and complimentary transportation throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

Having a Disney Dining Plan is a smart decision. I recommend using snack credits and the refillable mug to have breakfast at your hotel, and Quick-Service or Table-Service credits for either lunch or dinner. I like to order a case of water and snack items from Garden Grocer because they deliver to Disney Resort hotels, and I always bring cash to give tips to restaurant servers and housekeeping. I love purchasing my daughter a Disney Gift Card so she can have money to spend on small souvenirs. We plan how much she is allowed to spend a day and buy a gift card with the whole amount added to it. It is nice to see her doing her math, and she knows that if she spends it all at once she will not have more for the rest of the trip. Bring some extra money or a credit card for shopping or unexpected expenses.

Moms Panel tips: you can make dining reservations up to 180 days in advance. Plan ahead to secure your favorite Table-Service locations. Also, get both you and your daughter on all your vacation photos by purchasing Memory Maker!

I hope this helps you while planning, Sarah! Have a magical visit with your daughter.

    Best Disney wishes,
