Hello. We just booked a trip for September and can't wait. We have three boys ages 12, 10 and 8 and would like to book as many character meals as we can during our stay. What are the best ones and are they less crowded at lunch or dinner. Thank you.

    Hi Patti!

You sound like my kind of Mom!  Character meals are one of my favorite things about Disney World.  I love having that personal interaction as well as eat some delicious food!  Not all character restaurants are open during lunch, which might make lunch reservations more difficult to get.  It is usually less expensive, so it has a bigger appeal to same a little money, but still dine with your favorite characters.  That said, lunch or dinner is going to be full.  As long as you have your reservations, you will be good to go.

My favorite character meal is Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary.  All of the classic characters are there to greet you and there is a wide variety of food to choose from.  This restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner.

Garden Grill at Epcot is a fun restaurant because the actual dining room rotates.  I call the food here Thanksgiving food, because it's what we usually eat for Thanksgiving...turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce.  They are only open for dinner.

Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom is wonderful as well and they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  If your boys love Winnie the Pooh and friends, this is a must do for your family.

One of my favorites is 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian.  Some Winnie the Pooh characters roam around as well as characters from Alice in Wonderland and Mary Poppins.

'Ohana in the Polynesian is great for breakfast and is the only character dining where you can see Lilo and Stitch.  Mickey and Pluto are also here.  It's not a character meal, but dinner at 'Ohana is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE at Walt Disney World.  The food is to die for.

There are a couple Princess character dining restaurants, but I'm assuming your boys won't be too excited for that.

    Have a magical day!
