I booked a trip for next August. I'm hoping to get free dining plan. If I book my character meals, can they be changed if I need to change the date of my trip to accommodate a free dining plan?

Hello again, Kelly! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

The Disney Dining Plan offers such a great way to budget your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, and when it is FREE as part of a Special Offer, you really can’t go wrong! Seeing as though you can schedule your Advanced Dining reservations up to 180 days in advance, there IS a possibility that you will have to change your dining dates and/or Disney Resort hotel reservation dates. It is very easy to cancel your Disney Restaurant reservations by either calling Disney Dining, or by using your My Disney Experience account. Keep in mind that there is a cancelation policy with which I suggest becoming familiar. Depending on how soon your Disney Dining reservation is, there is the possibility that availability is limited for the more popular Disney Restaurants. Also, you may have to dine at “off” times (lunch at 2pm, for example). So to answer your question, you really are at the mercy of availability when you modify a Disney Dining reservation. That being said, Special Offers are often announced well in advance and there should be a number of options still available to you should you need to make modifications.

    Happy planning and bon appétit!
