I've booked my trip with husband and son (8) for June/09 and I would like to know wich rides are the best for my son who likes the thrills but not the heights or the fast lanes. Also, how's the weather like in FL in June? Do I need to care about ponchos?

Hi Roberta!  Sounds like you'll be staying off of the mountains at Walt Disney World this trip.  No worries, there are still several attractions I think your son might really enjoy.  I have a son who is almost the same age, and I've asked him to help out by telling me his 3 favorite attractions in each park that are neither fast or high.

Magic Kingdom: Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion

EPCOT: Turtle Talk with Crush, Space Ship Earth and checking out Innoventions

Hollywood Studios:  Toy Story Mania, Lights Motors Action Stunt Show, Star Tours (although it can be a bit jerky - it's a simulator ride), Muppet Vision 3-D

Animal Kingdom - It's Tough to Be a Bug, Kilimanjaro Safari, Dinosaur (again, you know your child -- Dinosaur can be a bit intense at times.)

As far as the weather, it's never a bad idea to pack rain ponchos.  We went one year in June and used our ponchos almost every day.  If you forget to pack them, you can always pick some up in the parks and in the resort gift shops.

    Have a great trip!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
