I booked a trip and found out about the run Disney event after. I’m wounding how road closures affect early entry and driving ourselves to the park? From All Stars area to Hollywood Studios.

    Greetings, Sarah!

Welcome to planDisney. It appears that you will be arriving during the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend. There are several races and a few events throughout the weekend, and traffic can be impacted due to crowds. Planning is essential, so this is a great question!

Specific race routes and road closures haven't been released just yet. Once the maps with routes are available, you'll be able to find them on the Runner Info tab on the event website. Traditionally, this is around two weeks before the Springtime Surprise Weekend. The week of the event, you may also see updates on the home page of the My Disney Experience app. Knowing the routes and road closures will give you a more accurate idea of how traveling to Hollywood Studios might be impacted. I checked last year's routes, and it looks as if the first two days of the event stayed close to EPCOT, and the third day spread out to Hollywood Studios and beyond. Routes do change, so your experience may be different.

While you are welcome to drive from your resort to the theme parks, you may find that using the complimentary Disney transportation gets you to rope drop more efficiently. Cast Members will get real-time updates about route changes, delays, and they are true pros at navigating the roads on race weekends! If you prefer to drive, you'll want to give yourself plenty of extra time. I definitely recommend using your GPS that morning, as it should automatically consider the race routes when giving you road closures and arrival times. Be sure to give yourself more time than the listed anticipated arrival window, just in case.

I hope these tips help you continue to plan your upcoming adventure. We'll see ya real soon!
