We have booked a trip to Disney over Christmas this year for our family of 4. Is the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan worth the extra money? Thanks!

    Hi Cynthia:

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks for sending us your question.  Deciding which Disney Dining Plan is the best fit for your family can be tricky.  For most of our vacations we do choose the Deluxe Dining Plan, as we do like to experience all of the fabulous dining options available at Walt Disney World Resort.

When deciding on our Dining Plan, we look at what kind of experience we would like to have during our vacation.  My husband likes to sit down and enjoy our dining experience, rather than have a quick bite to eat, so for us we typically have a Table Service breakfast every morning and a nice dinner.  With the Deluxe Dining Plan, we have the flexibility to enjoy some of the Signature Dining Locations and Dinner Shows on property.  I have found that if you do want to experience some of the Signature Dining Locations the Deluxe Dining plan is worth the added expense.  I also love the extra snacks we get with the Deluxe Dining Plan.  I love bringing snacks home to enjoy later!

If you would prefer to have a quick bite to eat and not spend too much time dining, you may be better off with the Disney Dining Plan.  This plan is great if you would like a balance between delicious Table Service options, but the convenience of the Quick-Service option as well.  It allows for more time in the theme parks, with the opportunity to enjoy some incredible meals as well.

Before making your decision, I would recommend making an ideal Dining list.  Count the number of entitlements you will need for your stay, and look to see if it works out that you use enough to justify upgrading to the Deluxe Dining Plan or if it makes more sense to pay out of pocket for a few meals.

I hope you have a magical Christmas at Walt Disney World Resort Cynthia.  Please let me know if you have any other questions, I would be happy to help.
