    Michelle:

I've walked in your shoes... the first two times my husband and I went to Disney the trips were thankfully blamed on business. We had a few days of conferences. Really, we did. But by our third trip without the children, we were feeling bolder and even rented a convertible to ride around Downtown Disney and Orlando! By our fourth trip, I wasn't even bringing back souvenirs!

Here's the good news: your children are young and if they're like mine were at those ages, take everything at face value. That's the wonderful thing about children, even teenagers. They don't think as much as we adults do. They aren't going to dwell on your trip like you will. A simple conversation over dinner about celebrating your birthday won't blow it out of proportion, and they will take their cues from you. You and your husband are modeling a solid marriage of love and caring for one another, and that speaks volumes to your kids about the stability of your family which will help them thrive in school and at home, in my opinion.

So, you're not crazy. The emotions you feel are real but relax knowing that not only will you benefit from some alone-time with your husband, but your kids will benefit, also.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
