Hi there! I just booked tickets for a visit in October. I am recently married, and in the process of a name change. When booking I put the ticket in my maiden name, but anticipate having my new last name by the time of the trip. Will this be okay?

Hey Howdy Hey Annaliese and welcome to planDisney!

Congratulations on your recent marriage! There is no better place to celebrate a recent marriage than in the Most Magical Place on Earth and am so happy to hear you will be visiting soon! While it sounds like the planning for you is heating up, some minor details such as the name change might slip by. No worries Annaliese, you've got a friend in me with some answers for you!

Walt Disney World Resort is a place where so many new and recent marriages are celebrated and Disney is aware of the potential issues this may cause with those who book with a maiden name or those who book with a not-yet changed name but are excited to see it! For the most part, you will not have to show your I.D. for much of anything. As long as your tickets and reservations are linked to your My Disney Experience account and are easily accessible, you should not have any issues. If some scenario does come up, a simple explanation of the situation should be enough! Where this would matter more is if you are purchasing airline tickets. You need to have your legal name at the time match what is on the tickets, but that is a separate issue.

I am so excited for you to have the opportunity to visit the Vacation Kingdom of the World in October. There is so much going on I wanted to share a couple of things you might want to consider as you continue to plan your trip.

The first is the epic return of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom. This party is so much fun to experience while celebrating Halloween in a much less intense way than others! From special parades, firework shows, fun Halloween overlays of some of our favorite attractions and of course, trick-or-treating, there is so much to experience with this exciting party!

Over at EPCOT, the celebrations will still be going strong. From July 14th to November 19th, you will be able to experience EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. This popular event celebrates food and drinks from around the world at so many places throughout the park. You also have options for entertainment with Eat to the Beat Concert Series with so many great entertainers.

So many fun things to experience on your upcoming trip that I am so excited for you! Best of luck as you continue to plan your trip and please feel free to reach out for any further questions, we would be happy to help!

    Have a Magical Day,

    Nick
