Hello Nicole!
The Theme Park View room category at
Disney's Contemporary Resort is definitely a splurge and a magical view! Whether it's "worth" the extra money depends on what you value most. For me, I love Disney's Contemporary Resort, because we have small children, two strollers, and we spend most of our time in Magic Kingdom. Being able to walk back to the resort after a fun day with sleeping children in the strollers and not have to wake them up to get on the bus is priceless. However, we do enjoy watching Wishes Nighttime Spectacular by Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, so the room view and watching fireworks from the comfort of my own bed is not that important to me. I would probably save money by choosing a less expensive view to spend on eating as many Mickey Ice Cream Bars as I could find.
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is awesome as well! It is less convenient transportation wise, but still has an efficient and complimentary bus system to act as your royal coach in transporting you to the Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks, and Downtown Disney. One of my favorite things to do there is read a book in a hammock. Yes, I know; there are attractions to be ridden, but sometimes a girl just needs to relax. Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort also has an incredible main pool for any swashbucklers you may have, and six leisure pools for those looking for a more quiet swim.
You'll have fun at either resort and make many magical family memories. The question is, what is in your budget? My family has an amazing time whether we stay in a Disney Value, Moderate, or Deluxe Resort, because we are together and feel the Disney pixie dust. Good luck with your decision and have a fantastical vacation!
