I booked the A Story of Celebration: A 70th Anniversary Guided Tour. For which showing of Paint the Night will I have access to the viewing area, & can I watch Wondrous Journeys from this area? Or will I need to move to a different place? Thank you!

    Hi there, Alice!

Welcome to planDisney! It looks like you are heading into the parks in just a few days to enjoy some of the special festivities for the 70th Anniversary. I am in the parks as I write this, and I can tell you that the "Celebrate Happy" energy is contagious, and you will be humming the theme song, skipping down Main Street before you know it!

How exciting that you booked a spot on the A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour! You are going to love your two-hour journey through 70 years of magic, experiencing some of Disneyland's original attractions, snacking on quintessential park popcorn, and grabbing a preferred viewing spot for Paint the Night. You are correct that there are currently two parades scheduled for your park day on August 15th. Typically, Guests on the 70th Guided Tour are given preferred viewing for the first parade, but this is not guaranteed and can be subject to change depending on park operations for the day. I recommend asking your tour guide or host when you check in so that you can plan out your evening.

Your viewing spot will be in Town Square directly across from the Disneyland Railroad Station. This is a fabulous view as the parade rounds the corner. While you don't have to grab a spot hours ahead of time, I would still try to arrive 30 minutes before the parade starts to get comfortable and find a view that works for you.

Once Paint the Night concludes, it sounds like you would like to turn your attention to Wondrous Journeys over at Sleeping Beauty Castle. From your parade spot, you will technically have your back to the castle, so you would just need to turn around and may need to adjust your position slightly to get a view of the castle. If you do see the first Paint the Night, you'll note that as soon as it passes, Guests will flood into Main Street to watch Wondrous Journeys. Anywhere along Main Street is a good spot to see this nighttime spectacular!

Alice, I sure hope this has been helpful in your planning! It sounds like you've got some very unique 70th to-dos on your list for this week! While you are planning, I recommend checking out the 70th Anniversary Foodie Guide to earmark some must-try treats. My favorite is the 70th Stuff at Red Rose Taverne - a shortbread and raspberry delight complete with a candy candle, perfect for making your own wish!

If you have any more questions, we are always here for you at planDisney.

    Magic awaits!
