Hi Chrissy,
Welcome back to planDisney! Thanks for continuing to trust us with your planning questions. I am so excited for you to do the
70th Anniversary Tour. Going on a Disneyland tour of any kind is always a special treat. I literally just got back from the Happiest Haunts Tour at Disneyland and had a great time! So when I saw your question, I had to fly over and answer it!
From my experience today, we were told that we could enter the reserved viewing area between 8:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. This allowed us to see the first showing of
Paint the Night at 8:30 and the fireworks show (for you, it will be
Wonderous Journeys) at 9:30. If your kids can hang on for both, that would be a real treat. If not, you’ll at least be able to see Paint the Night. Be sure to check in at the Tour booth earlier in the day to confirm the time and location of the viewing area, as details are subject to change.
As you go through your day with your kids, be sure to grab a
Family Adventure Map. This special map is designed for families with young children. It’s a helpful tool for finding kid-friendly dining, knowing what to expect on rides, and locating companion restrooms. My little one is four, and during our last visit, she loved using the Family Adventure Map to find characters throughout the park. It’s a great no-tech option to keep your kids entertained while waiting in lines or for the parade. These maps should be available at the kiosks near the park entrance. If you don’t see them there, ask a Cast Member at a Guest Services booth; they’ll be happy to help!
I hope this information is helpful, Chrissy! If you have any other questions or need more planning tips, feel free to write back to me or one of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’d be happy to sprinkle a little pixie dust onto your planning.
Enjoy your tour!
