Hiya Elise! Thanks for stopping by planDisney!
I can't think of a better way to ring in the new year than at the
Walt Disney World Resort. A couple of years back, my family spent New Year's at Disney's Boardwalk Inn and we had a magnificent time. The energy around the parks and resorts was at an all-time high and we enjoyed the special festivities that were taking place!
According to the Walt Disney World website, the
Fuentes del Morro Pool at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is scheduled to close in January 2024 for routine maintenance. It is not expected to reopen until April 2024. Unfortunately, no specific dates have been given for the closure. I spoke to a Cast Member earlier today and they said the best thing to do is to continue checking back to the website for additional updates. Since your visit is during the first week of January, you definitely have a better chance of it still being open than if you were visiting later in the month. Also, remember to consider the weather during this time. While Central Florida is typically mild during the winter months, it can get rather cold at times. Luckily, Disney Resort Hotels pools are usually heated, so if it is a bit chilly, you may still be able to enjoy a swim.
If this is a deciding factor, I would suggest looking into another moderate resort to stay during your trip.
Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is similarly priced and has comparable amenities to Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. The main pool here is themed to perfection and great for Guests of all ages.
If you decide to stick with your original pick, you are in for a delightful stay. Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort has some of the best theming on Disney property and is home to one of my favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World. In my opinion, Sebastian's Bistro is not talked about enough. The food is unique and absolutely delicious. I try to plan a visit here on almost every trip!
Elise, I hope you have a magical stay!
