I have booked a standard room at All Star Sports in mid September. Do they generally upgrade you for free to a preferred room if they have openings available during the slower season? Is it worth asking for? This panel is great!

Hi, Matthew! Upgrades are something we like to call on the Moms Panel, "Pixie Dust!" Truly, accommodation upgrades happen as a result of operational needs, and it depends on what is available and what is needed throughout the WDW resort. Upon check in, you can certainly ask (in a super nice way!), but there is no guarantee.

I have heard fabulous stories about families checking into a Value Resort and asked if they can relocate to a moderate or deluxe resort for no extra cost. I've also had friends who were asked if they would like to upgrade to a more convenient resort for a small fee, and then, my family has personally experienced a couple of occasions (out of more than 30 trips) where our room was upgraded from a standard view to a theme-park or water view. Cast Members are going to try to make your vacation special no matter what, but of course, their magic is limited by being able to provide quality service to all guests. Therefore, my advice is not to plan on an upgrade, but know that there is certainly nothing wrong with asking!

Thanks for the compliment and for visiting the Moms Panel! Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
