Hey there, hi there, James! Welcome to planDisney and thanks for stopping by with such a great planning question!
I am so excited to see that the magic called you, and you are answering the call by planning a magical family adventure at The Most Magical Place on Earth. Since you have your Disney Resort hotel reservations booked and your daughter linked to your
My Disney Experience account on your
Family & Friends List, it sounds like your planning is off to a fantastic start! But with multiple room reservations, different Family & Friends Lists and lots of pixie-dusted plans to be managed, sometimes, the planning can feel as confusing as it is magical. That's exactly what we at planDisney are here for, and I'm more than happy to help you manage all of the magical plans!
While you could likely have yourself listed on both Disney Resort hotel reservations by
calling and speaking with a helpful Cast Member with Disney Resort Hotel Reservations, I think you will be happy to hear that isn't necessary for you to be the manager of the plans. In fact, in my experience, having yourself on two separate room reservations at the same time can complicate things, especially when it comes to using a MagicBand to tap into your room.
Since you and your daughter are on separate room reservations, she and her boyfriend are likely still listed under "People I Don't Have Plans With" on your Family & Friends List. However, as long as their profiles are properly linked to your My Disney Experience account via your Family & Friends List, you can start making plans, such as
dining reservations,
Theme Park Reservations,
tours,
Enchanting Extras Collection reservations and more for the entire group. When you make a reservation, you will be asked to list the Guests on the reservation, and you will be able to select any Guest on your Family & Friends List. Once your daughter and her boyfriend are listed on a reservation with you, they will automatically move to the "People I have Plans With" list. It's just like ... magic!
Now, since the ability to order discounted pre-arrival MagicBands is linked to a Resort room reservation, your daughter may have to log in to her My Disney Experience account to select and purchase her MagicBand or
MagicBand+. However, if you decide to purchase a MagicBand or MagicBand+ after you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort, you will be able to link it to anyone on your Family & Friends List by following the easy instructions that come with the Band.
I hope this helps, James, and I hope you'll stop by any time with any planning questions you may have along the way. Wishing you and your family the most magical and memorable time!
Happy planning,
Mandy
