MagicBands are a part of the MyMagic+ initiative that Disney is rolling out. MyMagic+ is a great way for guests to connect many of the aspects of their Walt Disney World vacation. Because this is still in the testing phase, please know that anything I say here is subject to change.
I spoke with a cast member at Disney Vacation Club, who let me know that you will likely be a part of the MagicBands testing. She suggested that you monitor both your regular mail and your e-mail for an invitation to do so. Also, you should be sure to set up a
My Disney Experience account. You can use this to manage parts of your vacation such as your dining reservations.
You should receive a confirmation number for your Disney's Old Key West resort stay. When you receive that, you can enter this number into My Disney Experience. Then I would also suggest that you monitor My Disney Experience to see if the opportunity to customize MagicBands is offered there.
