I booked a room for Nov/Dec 2023 with a deposit. I went to pay for the tickets separately (not part of package) and I noticed travel insurance is not offered. However, if I had booked the trip as a package it is offered. Will I still be able to get it?

    Hi Kenneth,

Welcome to planDisney, it’s so fun to meet a fellow Virginian here planning a vacation to sunny Florida. You will be visiting at my favorite time of year, in time to experience the magical holiday season at the Walt Disney World Resort!

While it’s not as much fun to think about the “what ifs” for a special vacation, you are smart to consider purchasing travel insurance to cover any potential cancellations or delays, and to protect your investment. The Travel Protection Plan is available for eligible trips, and while it may not appear as an add-on option when purchasing tickets separately you may add this to your complete vacation at any time. Please review the details of this coverage, and instructions for either adding to an existing reservation through the Walt Disney World website or by calling Disney directly.

You may also purchase travel insurance on your own through an external party and apply that coverage to your Walt Disney World vacation. If you have a preferred vendor or long-term coverage already in place this may be the right fit for your family’s special holiday trip. Otherwise, I suggest you look at the options on your reservation or call Disney at (407) W-DISNEY for a complete explanation of what may be applicable to you.

Be sure to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for any announcements about the holiday season, Kenneth. Many experiences and shows are included with your theme park ticket, but others such as a Candlelight Processional Dining Package or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, require a reservation and advanced purchase. In years past, the Disney Parks Blog has celebrated “halfway to the holidays” with special content and news before the summer so that you can plan this special season in advance.

I hope this information is helpful as you look to protect your special vacation with travel insurance options. Please come back and see us anytime with additional questions you may have to help make the most of this very special vacation!

Wishing you a practically perfect vacation,
    Amy
