Hi, We have booked our resort reservations and park tickets (staying at the Contemporary) and paid the balance. Currently there is a stomach bug sweeping our house. What is the cancellation policy? Can we reschedule dates/reservations if we cannot travel?

    Hiya, Leah! Welcome to planDisney!

Oh no, the dreaded stomach bug! I know that can be such a nightmare as it runs through the family, but to hear it may interfere with your Walt Disney World vacation plans makes it even more of a bummer! But, worry not, Leah! Your trusty planDisney Panelists are here to help break down your options so you can visit again soon when your family is feeling as good as new!

So, let's break down the cancellation policy for your Walt Disney World Resort vacation package.

    30 days or more:

    • If you cancel your vacation package more than 30 days before arrival, there are no cancellation penalties, and all payments made to-date will be refunded.

    29 days - 2 days:

    • For a Walt Disney World Resort vacation package, if you cancel within 29 days to 2 days before your arrival date, there is a $200 penalty per room. All other funds will be refunded, including your theme park tickets, so long as they were purchased as a part of your vacation package.
    • If your theme park tickets were booked on their own, they are non-refundable, but the value of those tickets will remain in your account and can be used as a credit toward a future visit.

    1 day or less:

    • If you need to cancel your reservation one day before your arrival, the vacation package is non-refundable.
    • If you have an unused ticket, they are non-refundable, but the value of those tickets will remain in your account and can be used as a credit toward a future visit.

In this case, we are within the 29-2 day window, so you can definitely reschedule your vacation for a later date if you're still feeling under the weather. If you do decide to reschedule, your best bet would be to give the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations team a call at (407) 939-1936. They will have to go through your options with you and update your reservation.

No matter when you end up visiting, you're bound to have an incredible time! But, did you know that if you visit any time in 2022, you'll be visiting during Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary Celebration, and you get to join in on the fun! There is special EARidescent magic at every turn, so don't forget to take a look around and enjoy the fabulous Beacons of Magic on the theme park icons across all four parks. They're absolutely breathtaking!

In the meantime, I'll be wishing you and your family a super speedy recovery! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other vacation planning questions. We are here to help!

    Get well soon!
