We have booked our reservations to Disney World in April, over Easter. During this time my son turns 10 on the 10th, could you advice the best cost savings of purchasing park tickets since he will be there for a few days at the age of 9 before turning 10?

    Hi, Melissa!

Happy Birthday to your son!  There is no better way to celebrate a birthday than at Disney World!

Through the magic of Disney, whatever age you are upon arrival, you stay that age for your entire vacation.  So if your birthday boy is 9 when he arrives, simply purchase a child ticket for him.

If time allows and you have paper tickets (not part of a package on your Key to the World card) you can take your son along with his ticket to any ticket window and they will upgrade his child ticket to an adult ticket (transferring same amount of days left on the ticket) at no extra charge.  The ticket must be used at least one day for them to be able to do the upgrade.  If you do not have the time or your tickets are on your Key to the World card, simply let him keep using his child ticket, no problem.

Now I tried this little Disney trick when I went to WDW for my 40th birthday, but unfortunately it only works for our little Mouseketeers, I turned 40 anyway!!!  Oh well, it was worth a shot, right?!

Make sure your handsome prince gets his free "Happy Birthday" button at guest services.  Wishing him a great vacation and a wonderful birthday.

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
