Hello, we have booked our reservation for the 3rd week of December. My son will be 3 yrs and 2 months by then, would he be too young for this trip?

    Hi Genevieve,

Absolutely not! My son first went to Walt Disney World shortly after his second birthday. He was a young 2 since he was also 3 months premature. That vacation was a dream come true, yet it did have some challenges with a young toddler. Our next trip was just weeks shy of his third birthday. It was fantastic!

Yes, there's challenges with a young child at Walt Disney World such as having to schedule in naps, especially if you'll be staying up later than you do at home.

The magic you'll receive for your efforts is worth it! I'll never forget our young child kissing Minnie, dancing with Goofy, comparing shoes with Mickey, riding Dumbo, eating to his heart's content at the child buffet at Chef's Mickey, riding the monorail (Disney Choo Choo) countless times, and swimming in the hotel pool.

Other big draws were the parades!

My son is now 12 and we spend more time at the thrill rides such as Expedition Everest. He often asks to ride a second and third time alone. While it's still a memorable vacation with a tween, as a Mom I miss those moments when he was young and everything at Disney was so eye-opening for him.

While we count the days to our next WDW vacation this summer, I often reminisce about those days we shared with our pre-schooler in WDW. Enjoy every bit of your memorable vacation. Walt Disney World is for the young and young-at-heart!

I would just encourage your family to concentrate on quality not quantity. Slow down and enjoy the attractions that you visit rather than worrying about seeing and doing it all. If your child is fascinated with the ducks in the river, stop and enjoy the peaceful moment!
