I just booked a reservation at Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom park for 6:55 PM, but I noticed that the park closes at 7 PM on the day I booked. I am wondering if that is okay. Can I still have dinner even after the park is closed?

Hi there Min, it's great to welcome fellow Canadians here at planDisney!

If there's anything I find myself coming back to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park for beyond the awesome animals and the attractions, it's the dining locations that serve some of the most appetizingly adventurous items across Walt Disney World Resort! I recently had the chance to dine there after closing time, and am happy to lend some of my own observations and experiences:

    • When any of the theme parks close for the evening, there are often quite a few guests still remaining - whether they're finishing up any final purchases, waiting among the last riders in a long queue for a popular attraction like Avatar Flight of Passage or even sitting down for their meal at a restaurant.
    • It's common for certain dining locations like Tusker House Restaurant to have reservation times available right up to the time the theme park closes, and depending on how long it takes to serve and enjoy your meal you might even be able to stick around even an hour beyond! I've personally experienced this in the past at both Yak and Yeti Restaurant and Tiffins Restaurant, and there's a really special feeling about exiting into a theme park that feels so much more empty with the distant sounds of wildlife calling out into the darkness.
Many folks and families worry about being able to catch a complimentary resort bus back to their accommodations after a late dining reservation, but in my experience the Cast Members do an excellent job in ensuring that every Disney Resort Hotel guest makes their way back. Just be aware that as you make your way through Disney's Animal Kingdom as some of the last guests you'll find Cast Members gently (and some perhaps less gently) nudging you along towards the exit, so this wouldn't be the best time for an impromptu photo shoot with the Tree of Life, as tempting as it may be. May your evening expeditions be wild and wonderful!
