We are booked at Port Orleans Riverside in December. We have a dining reservation at Trattoria al Forno for a 10:00am breakfast. What is the best way to get there? Can we use a ride share such as Uber since we have a dining reservation?

    Hi Jamie,

Welcome back to planDisney, and thanks for bringing your thoughtful question our way. I love thinking through the Disney details of a trip in advance, it just makes me feel at ease knowing I’ve considered my options and can make the right decisions on site as needed. As Edna Mode says, “luck favors the prepared.” I’m happy to help you think through this morning plan for your upcoming trip to the Walt Disney World Resort at the Most Magical Time of the Year.

I just returned from a stay at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and it was so lovely! The beautiful southern style architecture and lush grounds make for a very peaceful stay. Trattoria al Forno is located on Disney’s BoardWalk, which is a central entertainment, dining, and shopping venue but doesn’t have its own transportation aside from what's available to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. Unfortunately, resort-to-resort transportation isn’t available so you’re smart to think this through. The good news is that your 10:00 A.M. dining reservation is well past the hours of standard transportation so there are many options to choose from.

You could take a bus from Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Without entering the theme park gates, you can take a beautiful waterside walking path (a flat and wide sidewalk) to Disney’s BoardWalk, about a 10 – 15-minute walk. This option would not cost you anything extra and does not require a theme park ticket. While the BoardWalk area is also adjacent to EPCOT, please note that the busses drop you off at the main gate in EPCOT and you’d have to walk through the theme park to exit the International Gateway to access Trattoria al Forno on the BoardWalk, so a bus to EPCOT is not a recommended option unless you plan to enjoy that theme park before breakfast.

You may also take a private rideshare option, such as Uber or Lyft, and be allowed entry onto the resort property with your dining confirmation number and last name. This is the most direct option but does incur an additional fee. You may also opt for Disney’s Minnie Van Service which uses the Lyft app but is a personalized Disney transportation for an additional fee. I adore these vehicles driven by Disney Cast Members for a special ride, especially for resort-to-resort journeys at breakfast time. Please see some additional details on this option I recently provided another Guest.

If you have your own vehicle for this vacation, you may drive yourself to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and be allowed to park at that resort for the duration of your meal. Be sure you have your dining confirmation number and last name, as well as a photo identification for the Security checkpoint at the resort.

I hope this helps you think of the best route for your family, Jamie. No matter your plans, you will have a delicious meal at this classic Italian restaurant. I love that their menu offers a taste of something out of the ordinary for breakfast, while being a great value for the portions and excellent service.

    Wishing you a fabulous stay,
    Amy
