We are booked into POP for seven nights this September how difficult would it be to suprise my family by switching to AK lodge for the last two night of our stay?

    Hi Robert!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel!

It is relatively easy to do physically but there might be some catches.  You would obviously need two reservations.  Bell Services at Pop Century can move your luggage for you to the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  If you are not on a Disney Dining Plan then it is relatively straight forward.  Just have a room reservation at Pop for 5 nights and a 7 or 8 day Magic Your Way ticket.  Then your ticket would still be good when you switch over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Things get more tricky if you are on a Disney Dining Plan.  The problem is the Disney Dining Plan expires at midnight on the day you check-out.  In order to get the Dining Plan on your second reservation, you would also have to purchase park tickets again and the first couple of days of a park ticket are relatively expensive (i.e. the first two days of a new park ticket are a lot more than the last 2 days added on to tickets used during your stay at Pop).  If you want to be on a Disney Dining Plan, I recommend only being on it for the first part of your stay and then just paying out of pocket when you are at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is absolutely fantastic.  Good luck with your decision, and please write back with more questions!
