Hi Carla,
My family and I absolutely love the relaxed and laid-back feeling at
Disney's Old Key West Resort. It is a great resort, and we always have a wonderful time there.
There are great views from many villas at Disney's Old Key West. I consulted the book "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2013," which has many recommendations for buildings with good water views. These include buildings 46, 45, 13, 32, and 34. Of those, building 13 is the closest to the main pool complex. Building 46 is close to one of the quiet pools, and 45 is not that much further from a quiet pool. Buildings 32 and 34 are probably the farthest of those from a pool.
Please understand that when you make a request, Disney will do their best to honor the request; however, it is not a guarantee. Also, sometimes it might be better to explain what you are looking for rather than requesting a certain building. This way, if Disney cannot get you into the exact building you asked for, they know what type of room you are looking for. You could ask that a request be added for a water view and close to a pool. Finally, if you arrive and find that the studio that you are assigned is not located in your preferred area, ask the cast member at check in if there are other studios available, or if you wait a while if one might open up. Although they may not be able to do this, I have had experiences where the cast member was able to work with me to change my room location to a different one than originally assigned.
I hope that this information helps, Carla. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
