Hi Christopher!
Thanks for sending your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
When I travel to Walt Disney World and arrive in the afternoon or evening, I use that arrival day to settle in to my Disney Resort and then take the transportation over to Disney Springs. This may be a great option for your family as well!
Disney Springs (formally known as Downtown Disney) has lots to offer with different dining options and entertainment experiences such as
Splitsville which is a bowling alley and restaurant. There is also a new restaurant called
The BOATHOUSE where you can have a tour of Disney Springs aboard little "dreamboats" themed like retro or antique cars! I highly recommend that you check them out.
Another option is to visit the different Disney Resorts! My family and I love visiting the different restaurants and gift shops in each resort. A good place to start would be perhaps to dine at Disney's Polynesian Village where I highly recommend either the Kona Cafe or 'Ohana. After touring this resort, hop on the monorail and visit Disney's Grand Floridian and Disney's Contemporary Resort. While at these resorts, you can even catch a glimpse of the fireworks from Magic Kingdom!
It has been a pleasure assisting you Christopher! If I can help you with any other planning need or question, please feel free to send them my way!
Happy Planning!
Yael
