Hi moms we are booked for a 4 night cruise on the Dream on June 1st to the Bahamas. The sandbar port adventure at Castaway key looks interesting for us as adults but I am unsure about a 12 year old. Any information about the sandbar port adventure?

    Ahoy, Kathy!

While I haven't personally participated in the Castaway Cay Sandbar Beach Adventure, I can understand worrying it might not appeal to your twelve-year-old. As a parent of an 11-year-old, I'm not sure if my daughter would necessarily love it. There's plenty of swimming and lots to do on the Family Beach at Castaway Cay, and my daughter loves to play on the slide at Pelican Plunge. The sandbar adventure sounds like a relaxing swim away from the crowd. While that sounds like Heaven to me, my daughter prefers to be in the middle of all the action! A relaxing swim on the sandbar might not appeal to your tween, but the fast ride on the Zodiac boat just might! My daughter also loves to hear stories about the places we visit on vacation, and it sounds like the captain and crew will entertain the group with cool stories about the island and local history.

If you do choose to book the Sandbar Adventure, it has a duration of two hours. You'll still have plenty of time to explore the island and participate in all the fun activities offered during the day.

I encourage you to check out all the Port Adventures available to you and discuss your favorites with your family. Your child might surprise you and be a big fan of the sandbar adventure! You can also search online for guest reviews of this excursion and get opinions from fellow cruisers.

I hope you and your family find the perfect adventure that appeals to everyone. No matter what you choose, you're in for an awesome day of family fun when you visit Disney Cruise Line's private island!

    Have a magical day! - Diane W.
