Hello, Julie!
Welcome to planDisney. Celebrating New Year's Eve at Disneyland Resort sounds like the perfect way to start the new year!
It is difficult to predict when and if the parks will reach capacity on New Year's Eve. However, reaching capacity is a very real possibility that day, especially in
Disneyland Park. I usually recommend arriving in Disneyland Park when the park opens on New Year's Eve and staying there the entire day to avoid any potential issues with re-entering the park later in the afternoon. Disneyland Park has reached capacity by the early afternoon in the past. If you still want to enjoy
Storytellers Cafe on New Year's Eve, you may want to keep checking for an early morning reservation or booking it for a different day.
Keep in mind that fireworks can typically only be seen in Disneyland Park, which usually leads to Disneyland Park reaching capacity before
Disney California Adventure Park in my experience. Although specific information about New Year's Eve events has not been announced yet, nighttime spectaculars can usually be seen in a few spots throughout Disneyland Park. This includes in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle and along Main Street, U.S.A., as well as near the Rivers of America. Projections and soundtracks for the nighttime spectaculars can also be enjoyed in front of
"it's a small world" Holiday on most evenings, although some fireworks cannot be seen from this area.
If fireworks are not a priority to you, you may want to spend the evening in Disney California Adventure Park. You can sample food and beverages during the
Disney Festival of the Holidays, watch the seasonal entertainment, and ride some of my favorite attractions, such as
Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! and
Radiator Springs Racers. Just make sure you have valid theme park tickets and park reservations for whichever park you plan to spend the day in.
Julie, I hope you can enjoy both Mickey’s Holiday Pajama Party Breakfast at Storytellers Cafe and the New Year's Eve celebrations at Disneyland Resort! Please reach out to planDisney again if you have other questions.
Happy holidays!
Jen
