Hi. Just booked a last minute trip to Disney world for New Years. We wanted to start the new Year off right. Unfortunately we waited too long and now we can't get park access. What's the best place to see fireworks outside of the park?

    Hi Denzel,

Welcome to planDisney and thank you for your question!

There are a few great places to see the New Year’s Eve fireworks outside of the Magic Kingdom Park or EPCOT. If you’re thinking about Magic Kingdom, I suggest seeing if you can score a dining reservation at any of the “monorail” resorts like Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. You can also check out Disney's BoardWalk if you’re interested in EPCOT. Depending on how late your dining reservations is, you’d potentially be able to see the fireworks! If you aren’t finding a reservation, remember that some of the restaurants have a mobile walk-up list. You can find out more about that here!

Now, if you’re not interested in a reservation, I strongly suggest continuing to check the Theme Park Reservation calendar to see if you can snag a few Park reservations for either Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. No promises here, but from my experience, if you check often, you may have some luck. If I’m looking for a specific date, I normally check 2 -3 times a day leading up to that date.

Another way to potentially access the Parks is by Park Hopping (if it’s available). Normally on major holidays like New Year’s Eve, Park Hopping may be a bit different depending on how full the Park is earlier in the day. If you have a ticket that includes Park Hopping, I suggest getting a reservation for either Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom, then in the early afternoon head over to either Magic Kingdom or EPCOT to see if you'll be let in at 2:00 p.m. to Park Hop. Remember, due to capacity this may not be available, so you’ll want to stay connected to your My Disney Experience mobile app because typically a notification would come out there if Park Hopping isn’t available.

I hope this “Bit By Bryanna” gives you a few ideas and gets you that much closer to seeing the fireworks. If you have any other planning or vacation questions, please feel free to reach out, I’m always happy to help!
