Welcome to planDisney, Rick! I'm so glad to be able to answer your question today. Extending your stay at a
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel is a great idea, and one of a few things will happen with your
Disney Dining Plan depending on how you adjusted your booking, so let's jump right in and chat about the different possible outcomes.
If you extended the length of your original package so that the new night is part of the same booking, then your
Quick-Service Dining Plan was extended too. In that case, you'll receive an additional night's worth of the dining plan, and just like the rest of your plan, you can use them any time from package check-in through the end of your package check-out day. In other words, you now have more meals to use across your entire stay, all the way through the final day of your trip.
If instead you added a one-night, room-only reservation and you see two separate reservations in
My Disney Experience, one labeled as a package and one as a room-only, your dining plan stays tied to the package only. You can use any unused dining plan meals and snacks through the end of the package's check-out day, which aligns with the bonus day you just added, but not on the following morning when you check out of the room-only night. Staying in the same physical room as a continuing stay doesn't merge the reservations or dining plan; it simply saves you a room move.
A quick way to confirm which scenario to have: open up My Disney Experience and look for whether you have one reservation covering all nights or two reservations, one for a package and one for a room for one night. If you're unsure or if you'd like to see whether your extra night can be converted into part of your package,
give Disney Resort Hotel Reservations a call, and a Cast Member can review your exact setup and let you know what's possible.
I hope this answers your question, Rick, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation!
