We booked a hotel/ticket package. We arrive tomorrow but one of the guests in our party may not be able to come due to illness. What options are there for removing him/her from our package reservations?

    Hiya Lauren!

Welcome to planDisney! I'm so sorry that your party is dealing with sickness and now sadness of missing out on a trip to Walt Disney World. That's a lot to process and I hope that I can help.

Since you stated you have a hotel and ticket package I will direct you to the 2024 Terms and Conditions for such guidance. It's a good thing that you are not canceling as that is non-refundable as it is now less than 1 day from your arrival. However, there can be accommodations to allow changes to your reservation which can include party size. As we are now 30 days or less from your arrival you will probably be assessed a $50 change fee.  (prices are subject to change) At this stage of the game, I would reach out immediately to Disney Resort Hotel Reservations and have your booking corrected for the decrease in headcount.

I hope that you will be able to come back later with your guest and re-live the memories together. I have made so many special memories with my family and friends at Walt Disney World Resort and I hope you all find ways to do that as well. Consider purchasing a special souvenir or gift for this special person who needs to heal and recover. My husband is recovering from an illness and there is a chance he won't make it on our family trip to Walt Disney World Resort very soon. I know that if I have to leave him behind to heal I will have to purchase him a t-shirt. He just loves to collect t-shirts and his wardrobe is now just one Disney-themed shirt after another. I hope you find something special for them. You didn't ask but I'm going to still share it my favorite shopping spots are:

    • World of Disney at Disney Springs which is the largest Disney store in the world with items for everyone.
    • Basin, also at Disney Springs for relaxing and wonderful-smelling bath salts, bombs, and soap!
    • Creations Shop at EPCOT has always been a lucky spot for me to find great souvenirs.
    • Karamell-Küche in EPCOT- the caramel popcorn travels well and is still delicious even a day or two later. Trust me.
    • Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs- eclectic surprises with multiple specialty shops.
    • Mitsukoshi Department Store in EPCOT is full of special items from Japan!

May all your dreams come true and every person in your party, whether they make it to Walt Disney World Resort tomorrow or not find everything good that they are seeking!

    Happy Planning!

Hey, it's Nimmy from New York! Just like my guy Jiminy Cricket I am your wisecracking and helpful guide to making the best decisions for your Disney vacation! My husband and I work very hard to journey to our favorite place on Earth, Walt Disney World Resort, as much as we can. We have traveled as just adults, with babies, kids, teenagers, and senior citizens. We have seen so many characters, eaten at amazing places, and consumed a ton of Dole Whips. So "give a little whistle" and let me be your guide! Learn More About Nimmy
